Broadway Avenue looking south from Fifth Street, Lorain, Ohio. The most prominent business in this postcard view is the F.W. Kirby & Company 5 & 10 store, which was in business in this location prior to its merger with the F.W. Woolworth Company store in 1912.
This photograph was likely taken between 1900 and 1910. Several horses and buggies are visible in the photograph, as are the Lake Shore Electric Railway tracks.
A partial cancellation is visible near the top center of the postcard.
This postcard was mailed to a Mr. Sam Eichler at a partially readable address in Celina, Ohio. The message on the back of the postcard (not scanned) reads in part : "Kind Friend - _____ your card all O.K. Wonder if we wouldn't feel more acquaintic (?) if we exchanged pictures please send yours." The postcard was cancelled in Lorain, Ohio on October 5, 1911 at 5:30 PM.
