Illustrated colorized postcard of Broadway looking north from 6th Street, c. 1905 - 1910.

1905 - 1910 / Downtown Lorain

This is an illustrated colorized postcard of Broadway Avenue looking north toward Lorain Harbor and Lake Erie from 6th Street.

The illustration of Broadway appears to be from the period 1905 - 1910, as only horse carriages are in view. Businesses in this postcard include The Boston Store, a furniture store and the Young Men's Christian Association building. The Babcock Company insurance and real estate agency is also visible on the left side of the street.

The postcard is labeled "Broadway, Lorain, Ohio" on the left of the card and "5544" on the right of the postcard.

On the back of the postcard (unscanned), there is a cancellation present. The postcard was sent from Elyria, Ohio on February 8 (Year unknown).

The postcard is addressed to "Miss Mary Kolb Mallet Creek Ohio R.F.D. (rural free delivery) #1" from a William (?) Kolb. William is apparently Mary Kolb's brother, as the salutation is "Dear Sister".

The message is as follows: "Dear Sister, How are you getting along these days? It has been very cold this week. Are you well? I am working every night. It is something now to me to work nights. Well write to me. Goodbye from your brother John."

The postcard was published by the Valentine-Souvenir Company, New York.
